Now that it’s finally Spring, it is time to re-evaluate those New Year’s Resolutions, goals, and dreams that you set back in January! I love spring because it feels like a fresh start on everything! I still have time to get back on track with my resolutions and organize my life. Since the weather is starting to warm up and the sun is staying out longer it seems to be the perfect time to deep clean your life! I always feel a renewed sense of motivation to tackle any and all projects that involve ‘organizing’ and ‘cleaning.’ So with that being said, I am going to share with you how I will be spring cleaning my life this season! Hopefully you are inspired and will try some of these as well!
1. Delete emails, Phone apps, etc.
The first thing that I did to start off my spring cleaning this year was going through my email accounts and deletingΒ unnecessary emails-ones that had never opened or I just never bothered deleting. This was a task I had been dreading because I have four email accounts. It can be extremely hard to manage all of them just because I get so many emails. Currently I have one account for work, one personal, one for this blog, and one that I used inΒ college. My college one I am phasing out and trying to transfer any emails I still need from it to my personal account, but this is definitely a process haha! I have been focusing on one account at a time and just taking it slow to get through all my accounts!
Β It honestly feels so good to have a clean inbox. From now on it will be much easier to manage and stay on track of my work and blogΒ messages. I also went through all the apps I currently have on my phone and deleted any that I never usedΒ and put the onesΒ I had left over into categories such as games, shopping, social, etc. to make my phone more organized!
2. Delete Pictures on your phone
I somehow managed to keep 11,000 photos on my iPhone, many being duplicates from photo shoots or events. When I take any pictures, I can never take just one, and I’m sure many of you can relate. You have to have multiple to choose from! I suggest going through and deleting the extra duplicates, and then saving the rest of the pictures to your computer to save space on your phone. I always keep a couple hundred still on my phone for Instagram and other social posts, but the rest can be saved away!
This is something that I am currently still in the process of doing because for some reason I have a really hard time deleting pictures! Even if I have 10 of the same photo, I just hold onto them and don’t want to delete any!
3. Unsubscribe fromΒ unnecessary or unused subscriptions
This can include email subscriptions, Spotify, Netflix, cable, magazines, beauty boxes, etc. There are some subscriptions that we continue to pay for month to month, but never actually use as much as we think we do. I know sometimes it’s easy to get in the habit of just paying the monthly fee even if you don’t use something, so I would encourage you toΒ think about if this subscription is benefiting you and if you are actually using it. If you aren’t using it, try unsubscribing for a few monthsΒ to save yourself some money! If you realize you really miss that subscription you can always sign up for it again!
4. Organize Receipts/Make a Budget
I am a paper person, so I keep my receipts for a few months just in case I want to return the item or if I want to get a price adjustment. It’s a way for me to cross reference my bank statements to make sure I was charged correctly for everything. To organize my receipts, instead of keeping them allΒ in my purse organized, I sort them by store and paperclip them together. Then I store them in a file folder. It is an easy way to find any receipts when you are in a hurry. You’ll know exactly where to find them!Β
I also suggest setting a budget for yourself and tracking all your expenses. I started doing this 9 months ago and it has been so helpful! I love feeling in control of my finances and just knowing the breakdown of where I spend the most money. It has really helped me figure out where I need to cut back my spending and how I can do it successfully. Knowing your spending habits is so important to having a healthy relationship with your finances!
5. Revamp your Resume/Career Goals
While you’re organizing everything else in your life, you might as well take a look at your resume too. Update any information on it if it has changed and make sure it is completely up-to-date. Also, make sure you ask yourself if you’re where you want to be in your career. Write down any goals that you have currently and for the upcoming years. Is there anything that you can do right now to achieve those?
I am actually going to start writing more career/interview content that will be coming to the blog next month! I am super excited to share some of my career tips because I love interviewing, editing my resume, and finding business casual work outfits. Hopefully these tips will be extremely beneficial to you! If there are specific topics you want me to talk about let me know!
What are you currently doing to spring clean your life?
