Hi everyone! And Happy Sunday!! After posting on my Insta stories asking you about what content you want to see, an overwhelming amount of you wanted to see my self-care routine and what I do to unwind and relax after a long day/week.

I am so excited to be talking about self-care because I think it is so important to incorporate into your life! Everyone needs to take time for them self and do the things that make them feel relaxed.

I usually use Sundays as my day to unwind, relax, take things slow, and do my entire self-care routine. That doesn’t mean I don’t do self-care throughout the week, however Sundays just seem to be the day that I have the most time!

I usually never plan anything for my Sundays because I like to have one whole day to do the things that I love and that make me feel happy.

Since I usually don’t have a ton of things to do on Sundays I allow myself to wake up without an alarm and whenever my body feels refreshed! I usually wake up around 8:30am naturally on the weekends, and will allow myself to lay in bed, scroll through my phone, and just get out of bed when I feel ready!

Typically, I will actually get out of bed and start making breakfast around 10:30am!

I love being able to take it slow and dedicate as much time as I want to my morning routine because I never get this much time during the week! Waking up without feeling rushed or pressured to start working is such an amazing feeling!

I don’t wear any makeup on Sundays and I make sure I’m wearing my comfiest loungewear!

Okay, so now that I have prepped you for what my usual Sunday looks like I will get into my self-care routine that I have been doing every Sunday for the past couple months!

Planning Out Blog Content

I love writing and planning out posts, taking pictures, marketing, and everything else that comes with maintaining a blog, so I look forward to this every Sunday! Since I work full time, it can be hard to get a lot of work done during the week, so I usually use Sundays to work on my blog!

If you didn’t know, I upload a new post every Sunday, so there are a few things I do to finalize each one before it goes up! I take time to edit and refine any pictures, words, and formatting of the post and then design Instagram and Pinterest graphics to go along with the post.

Once my weekly post is published I take the time to plan out future posts, brainstorm new blog post ideas, make more graphics for Pinterest, and write more posts!

This is all fun to me so I look forward to the time I get to dedicate to Sunday Mimosas!

Clean my Apartment!

Sunday is always cleaning day for me! I hang up all my clothes that may be laying on the floor, I fix my bed, wash down the kitchen and bathroom counters, put away any dishes that are in the dish rack, vacuum the floor, tidy up the living room, clear off my desk, etc. Cleaning is therapeutic to me and I actually look forward to the time I get to spend doing it because it’s mindless. I am able to clear my head and just relax while I wipe down counters or put away clothes.

I also love the fresh clean scent that all the cleaning products leave after you use them!

Cleaning is a great activity to for you to do if you are looking for something that doesn’t require much thought and I actually suggest trying to change the way you think about it!

Instead of thinking of it as a chore that you have to do, think about it as a way to clear your head and to reflect. You can multitask and even listen to a podcast.

Changing your perspective is huge!

Work Out

If it’s warm outside, I always run by the lake and will take the time to enjoy the fresh air and warm weather! But, since it’s been cold and I can’t do that. I have been doing at home workouts either on the Sweat app by Kayla Itsines (I am on week 5 of her BBG program!) or I will choose a fun no equipment Barre workout on Youtube.

I usually don’t go all out for my Sunday workouts and just do the exercises more for fun and to enjoy it! Sometimes if I’m not really feeling up to a cardio-intense workout, I will just go for an hour long walk outside! Walking is so good for you!

Grocery Shopping at Target!

Some of you may be thinking, how is this self-care!? And maybe you wouldn’t include this in your self-care routine, but for me I love the time I get to spend shopping for food! I always go food shopping on Sundays and it has become part of my routine! I specifically go to Target because after I finish gathering all the food I need, I head straight to the home decor section! I love that Target is a one-stop shop for everything I need!

I probably spend a good hour or so in there finding all the grocery items that I want and then searching for other home and beauty items that I may need!

Write in my 52 Lists of Happiness Journal

As of January 1st, I started using the 52 Lists of Happiness journal by Moorea Seal. I actually wrote an entire blog post on my experience using the 52 Lists journal last year and how much I loved it, so if you want to read that I will link it here!

One of the reasons that I love it so much is because it is a weekly journal, which means you only write in it once a week! I chose Sunday as my day that I block off some time to respond to the prompt! Once I write my list, there is an action item that it asks you to think about. I usually take some time to brainstorm how I can carry out the “prompt” into my daily life!

Journaling is so beneficial and I highly recommend it to anyone who has been thinking about trying out journaling as a way to practice self-care and self-reflection!

Read a few chapters!

I usually read a few chapters of whatever book I’m currently reading before I go to bed for the night! My goal is to read one book a month! Last month I read Becoming by Michelle Obama, and this month I am in the process of reading Nothing to Prove by Jennie Allen. I am LOVING it! Definitely recommend this book to anyone who feels like they are constantly trying to to prove themselves to others, to anyone who feels the pressure to be perfect, or who feels like they aren’t enough. You need this book!

I love my quiet reading time right before bed, especially on a Sunday night because it always puts me in a happy mindset before I get ready for another week!

Put on a Face Mask

I have been loving the Olay Pore Detox face mask! This is my favorite because it comes as a stick that you easily apply to your face without getting your hands messy! I leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off. I love using this mask because it makes my pores feel so clean and my face so smooth! It’s like a deep clean for your skin!

Take a Bubble Bath

I love baths more than anything, so I get so excited for this! If I have time during the week I will try and take a bath as well, but I seem to never have the time to do so, so I usually wait until Sundays. I pick a podcast to listen to, pour in some bath salts, and usually spend 30 to 45 minutes relaxing in the warm water. Baths are the best, especially when it’s cold outside because it feels so good to lay in warm water and take your mind off the cold temps outside!

Use an Oil Diffuser

When I am winding down for the night, usually after I take a bath, I will plug in my diffuser! I just got one for Christmas and I love it! It’s so calming! I will do another blog post talking about the essential oils that I use and the benefits of each one soon, so for now I won’t touch on this too much, but look out for that coming soon!

Doing this routine every Sunday is such a great way for me to relax and reset before the work week! I look forward to my time that I get to focus solely on me and bettering myself inside and out!

And in case you haven’t noticed, self care doesn’t have to be expensive! You don’t need to go get a massages or a manicure in order to feel good! There are plenty of things you can do at home that will have the same effect.

Self care is all about improving your well-being and doing what makes you happy! It is a great way to manage stress and anxiety and clear your head. With that being said, your self-care routine is most likely going to be different from mine and that’s okay! What makes me happy may not have the same effect on you!

I suggest grabbing a notebook and writing down all the things that make you happy! How can you incorporate those into your daily/weekly routine?

If you currently have a self-care routine that you practice what do you do? I would love to hear! Leave me a comment below 🙂
