Happy Sunday Everyone! 2018 has been a wonderful year filled with so many joys and accomplishments. I graduated college, started a new job, celebrated my 22nd and Golden Birthday, launched this blog, started cooking more meals at home, created a budget and stuck to it, and started journaling consistently.
At the beginning of 2018, one of the resolutions I had made was to start journaling. I didn’t really set any parameters around that goal, I mainly just wanted to get into the habit of writing more often than I used to. This is where The 52 Lists Project comes in!
Last Christmas, I received The 52 Lists Project as a gift from my sister, and after using it for the past year I can honestly say it is my FAVORITE journal!! For the longest time I tried to set a goal for myself to get into journaling daily, but for some reason I would never follow through with it. I would journal for a few days and then fall out of the habit. I would get frustrated that I couldnβt keep up with journaling daily, so I would eventually stop. The same thing would happen year after year. This past year though, I was exceptionally determined to complete my goal of journaling for the entire length of 2018. And I did it! Honestly, the way this journal is designed made it so easy for me to stick with it and look forward to the time I got to spend reflecting on myself.
There are a few key differences that set this journal apart from others that Iβve tried and I will go into detail about them below!
It’s a Weekly Journal!
I think my favorite part about this whole journal is that itβs weekly instead of daily. Which means you will write in it 52 times out of the year! Thatβs a whole lot easier to commit to rather than 365 days. Since I only write it in one day a week (Sundays are what work best for me), I look forward to journaling and it doesnβt feel like a chore. If you are someone like me and donβt have the time to journal every single day, The 52 Lists Project is perfect for you!
Eventually, my goal is to get in the habit of journaling every day, but for starting out, journaling weekly is a lot easier to manage.
You are given Prompts
Whatβs different about this journal compared to many others and one of the reasons that I love it, is that it gives you prompts to write on! This means I never have to come up with ideas to write about! One of the main issues I struggled with when I was trying to journal using a regular notebook was that I never knew what to write about. I would sit there staring at the blank paper having no clue what I wanted to write down. The 52 Lists Project makes it so easy to just open up the journal, find the weekly prompt, and write about what it says. You can really dedicate as much or as little time to this journal as you want and your responses to the prompts can be as descriptive or vague as you want them to be! This journal is really about discovering your values and what is important to you and the prompts provided really helps promote self-reflection!
The Journal is divided up by Season
There are four different sections to the journal: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall and the prompts correspond to the different seasons. So if you start this journal the first week of January, the first prompt you will write about is βList your goals and dreams for this year.βA list that is in the Summer section is ββList everything you love to do outdoorsβ and one of the prompts for Fall is βList the things you are grateful for.β So, as you can see the prompts go along with the season and what may be currently happening in the year! Not all the prompts are like this, but I just wanted to give you an idea how the journal is broken up!
The Pictures are Stunning
The entire journal is so beautifully designed and all the pictures are gorgeous! One of the reasons that I was drawn to this journal was for the pictures haha! I actually like to keep this journal on display on my shelf because I love how beautiful the outside cover is!
You are writing Lists
This journal doesnβt require you to write any full sentences, all of the prompts are LISTS! This is perfect for me because I love writing lists. I canβt tell you how many lists I make every day. I even have an app that holds all of them! So I really love that Iβm writing all lists in this journal and can take as much or as little time as I want on them.
It Gives you Action Items
After every prompt, there is an action item. The action items are thought-provoking and go along with the prompt and the list you wrote! They are a few sentences long and will give you something to incorporate into your daily life or something to think about throughout the week! Itβs really great because when I journal on Sundays, I complete the prompt, and then take some time to think about the action item and how I can include it in my weekly routine!
So if you are looking for a new journal for 2019, I encourage you to check out The 52 Lists Project! I canβt say enough good things about this journal, it is my FAVORITE!! For this coming year, I am going to be using The 52 Lists for Happiness which is also written by Moorea Seal and I can’t wait to start it! One of my New Year Resolutions for 2019 is to be happy with everything that I have instead of constantly wanting more. So, I am hoping this journal will help me embrace that!
Moorea also has a few other journals and books that you can check out if you are interested. I know she just came out with a new journal The 52 Lists for Togetherness, which I plan to buy next year once I finish The 52 Lists for Happiness. All of them are just as beautifully designed and well-thought out.
Let me know in the comments what journal you use and why you love it! I also would love to know if anyone else has tried The 52 Lists Project and what you think!
Bonus Blog Post-Tomorrow I will be posting a bonus blog post!! Since tomorrow is New Year’s Eve I will be sharing 100 New Year Resolutions you can set for yourself! And be sure to check back in next Sunday as I will be sharing my own goals for the New Year!
