We are running out of summer weekends before it starts to cool off for Fall! (At least for those of us here in the Midwest LOL. Personally, I am desperately holding on to the last month of summer and trying to fit in as many adventures and pool days into my schedule as I can. With that being said, I am sharing the ultimate pool packing list and all the pool day essentials you need for the most relaxing, stress-free day by the water.
Probably should have shared this post a little earlier, but this summer has just flown by! So hopefully you can take some time to enjoy every moment of this month, soak in some sun and lay by the pool a few more times!
We actually have one last vacay planned this month -any guesses where!? It’s somewhere in the United States and I guarantee there will be plenty of pool days!

Summer Beach + Pool Day Essentials
Bluetooth + Waterproof Speaker
Sound quality on this speaker is amazing! We’ve had our Altec Lansing speaker for years and it is one of the best. 16 hours of play time, portable and great for outdoor use!
Sunscreen!
Obviously SPF is a must if you’re spending any time in the sun! This is one of my favorite spray sunscreens. It smells SO GOOD – not like your typical SPF.. And is non-greasy, while giving you the slightest shimmer.
Also highly recommend Tula’s Protect + Glow for a daily facial sunscreen! Wearing SPF every day is one of the best ways to prevent pre-mature aging and protect your skin from the sun!
Large Umbrella
If your skin is sensitive to the sun like mine is (or you just want to protect your skin from the sun), a large umbrella is essential. This one is the most affordable option I’ve found! It provides lots of shade – lay your beach blankets or chaise lounge chairs underneath to keep cool.
Just an FYI – an umbrella stand isn’t included. You’ll have to purchase that separately!
Cute + Comfortable Swimsuit
There are so many cute swimsuits this season! I put in a huge order on Amazon a month ago and I was so impressed by all of the suits. Affordable ($30 or less), cute and comfortable! Comfort is key when it comes to swimsuits!
If you’re not comfortable in the suit you’re wearing, then do not wear it! Cute + comfortable suit = confident YOU! Here are a few of my favorites!
Microfiber Pool Towels
These towels are super absorbent and quick-drying – perfect for a long pool day! They’re really soft and even have a little loop on them making them easy to hang on hooks or in the pool locker room!
Wide Brim Hat
Great wide brimmed straw hat for all summer long! I wear mine all the time! This specific hat comes in tons of shades and is adjustable to fit any head size. Perfect to throw on at the pool, pack for a beach vacay, or accessorizing your summer outfits.
Straw Tote Bag
Holds ALL your pool day essentials – your towels, sunglasses, snacks, portable speaker, personal items etc! This bag is BIG! Also recommend this wet/dry tote for used towels and swimsuits. So easy to throw all your wet swim stuff in it!
Favorite Pair of Sunnies
I love this pair of aviators! They’re always my go to sunglasses in summer. Quality is amazing and they honestly look so good with any outfit.
Pool Floats
I know some swimming pools have floats or noodles there, but it’s always nice to have your own to bring along if you’re heading to the beach, lake or a private pool. This chaise lounge float is so cute! It has palm trees all over (I love the design), a drink holder on the side and comes to $25!
Looking for a larger, luxe float that will have you feeling like you’ve rented one of those private cabanas? This inflatable canopy float is the perfect escape from reality. Relax, de-stress and take some time for yourself in this oasis-like raft.
Now all you need is a poolside bar! π
Tumbler
One of the cutest tumblers! The white is my fave, but it comes in over 30 different colors. The tumbler is made out of glass with a protective sleeve, so it’s easy to hold.
Personally, I think everything tastes better when it’s in glass vs. plastic/stainless steel, so these are always my go to!
Outdoor Blanket
Always great to have on hand if all the chairs and tables are taken by the pool area! Or if you want to do a picnic lunch, this blanket is great! It’s 50×60″ and less than $16!
These large waterproof and sand proof mats are also great if you’re heading to the beach! It folds up really nicely and can fit easily into your beach tote!
Beverage of Choice!
Water is essential, so make sure you’ve got plenty of H2O to go around! But, I also like to pack a tumbler for a little wine, spritzer or maybe some signature cocktails while I’m laying on the pool deck. Whatever you’re feeling! In the summer, my go to drink is always something sweet!
I’m currently sippin’ on the rose from That Girl. It’s delish! (must be 21 years of age to order). Some pools don’t allow outside food or drink inside, so just know the rules before trying to bring any in!
