Everything You Need to Know About Becoming a Beautycounter Consultant

Are you thinking about becoming a Beautycounter consultant, but have some hesitations or questions? I totally understand! I felt the same way a few years ago and I want to share what lead me to say yes! In this post, I’m going to share the reasons why I became a Beautycounter consultant and some FAQs at the end of the post.

Those of you who follow me on Instagram may have seen that I’ve slowly started transitioning my makeup, skincare and household products to cleaner alternatives. This all stemmed from the info I learned from joining Beautycounter!

Why I joined Beautycounter

Clean beauty is a topic I am so passionate about because of the current lack of regulation in the United States. I didn’t know how serious this issue was until I started doing my own research. The statistics are shocking.

It has been 81 years since the United States last passed a law regulating our cosmetics industry and A LOT has changed since then. Today, there are over 80,000 chemicals on the market and many have absolutely no safety data.

A number of these chemicals, found in our every day beauty products, can be linked to serious health concerns such as infertility, cancer, hormone disruption, and birth defects.

The worst part about all of this is that companies are allowed to use dangerous chemicals and make their own judgements on the safety of personal care products in the United States.

What is Beautycounter?

Beautycounter is a certified B Corporation that is dedicated to getting safer products into the hands of everyone through advocacy, education, and high performing/safe products.

But, Beautycounter is so much more than a beauty company, it is a movement.

Beautycounter is advocating on the national level for stricter regulations and increased transparency in the personal care industry. They’re creating high performing, safe and effective beauty products, educating consumers on the importance of using clean beauty and skincare products, going above and beyond to source responsibly, making strides to use sustainable packaging such as glass bottles and recycled materials, and banning ingredients intentionally.

why I joined Beautycounter as a consultant

Beautycounter created The Never List, which is a list that prohibits the use of over 1,500 harmful or questionable ingredients in their product formulas.

They’re making a huge impact and proud to be the #1 leading clean beauty brand in the industry!

Beautycounter’s CEO, Gregg Renfrew, said it best – “The honest truth is that the world doesn’t need another beauty brand. What we need is safer products and for families to be healthier.”

This couldn’t be more true. The U.S. doesn’t need another cosmetics company, we have enough. We need a company that will help shift the market to safer beauty. A company that will consistently work to pass more health protective laws, a company that is committed to its people and the planet, and a company that is educating its consumers on the ingredients and health concerns of the beauty products on the shelves in our local retailers.

Why I became a Beautycounter consultant
Here’s a look at a few things I received in my Starter Kit: a makeup bag, tote bag, educational and marketing materials and more!

And why does Beautycounter believe in advocating, educating, and creating products that are safe AND effective? Because they believe that beauty should be good for you!

What is Beautycounter Working Towards?

Beautycounter is a company dedicated to progress and making all beauty clean beauty.

They are working towards a future where consumers don’t have to worry if the products they are buying are safe. A future where we don’t have to constantly check ingredient labels.

Wouldn’t that be nice if you could go to the store and buy beauty products with the confidence that they don’t contain harmful ingredients?

How was I Introduced to Beautycounter?

Beautycounter was a brand that kept popping up in my social media feeds. I saw photos and articles about them being the top trending beauty brand in 2018. I also saw some alarming facts about the beauty industry that completely shocked me. Finally, I decided to look into the statistics and do some of my own research.

At the same time, my friend reached out to me and asked if I had ever heard of Beautycounter. It was honestly such a coincidence! She shared more info with me about the Beautycounter business opportunity, the movement, the community and the reasons why she joined. But, for some reason, I was still hesitant. I just figured this was another direct sales company or “pyramid scheme” trying to recruit me.

However, a few days later, I watched a video of Gregg Renfrew speaking at the CEO and Founder Leadership Summit in 2017. It was so inspiring and I immediately knew this was different. The mission and vision behind Beautycounter was something I could 100% stand behind and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

There was a reason I repeatedly saw pictures, videos, and information about this company on my feeds. There was a reason my friend reached out. And there was a reason I said yes to this movement!

And I am so happy I did. This company is changing my life in so many ways and I am proud to be a part of something greater.

Why did I Join Beautycounter?

I joined because I felt called to do something greater with my life.

I joined because I fell in love with everything that Beauty Counter stands for, their mission, their goals; this incredible community and their ability to make a huge difference in our beauty industry.

I joined because I wanted to add another voice to this movement, to advocate for change, to educate as many people that I possibly can, to protect the people that I love from toxic ingredients in our personal care products, and to make a real difference in our country.

Because if there was so much I didn’t know about the beauty industry, I’m sure there’s a lot of people that feel this same way!

And I joined for the opportunity to connect with individuals all over the country, receive a 25% off discount, have the chance to earn free products, and make extra income 🙂

Different Ways to Shop Beautycounter Products

Beautycounter uses a direct retail model that allows consumers to shop through their preferred channel! They have physical stores in New York City and Denver, a few seasonal pop-ups in the Hamptons and Nantucket and limited time partnerships with Target, J Crew, and Goop. You can always shop online at beautycounter.com or through a consultant who introduced you to the products! Here is their website!

Beautycounter uses a direct sales model as one of their selling methods because they believe their mission is best told person to person. Everyone has a different story and a different “why” for the reasons they joined the clean beauty movement, and there’s no better way to educate people then through sharing the message with other people!

If you haven’t noticed, retail is changing. Consumers aren’t shopping the way they did ten years ago. Going to the mall and buying from department stores isn’t as relevant anymore. That era has ended. More than ever consumers are relying on friends, family, peers and influencers they trust to impact their purchasing decisions.

This is exactly why Gregg set up Beautycounter this way. She wanted to combine traditional retail with e-commerce and direct sales in a new way. One that would allow us to build direct consumer relationships, and allow people to shop through multiple channels.

This new era of retail is all about forming personal connections with consumers, creating an experience for them, and building a lasting relationship by conveying trust and transparency. All things that Beautycounter is able to do through our various channels.

How You Can Get Involved!

Want to help promote safer products? Here are three ways to get involved!

  1. Text BETTER BEAUTY to 52886 to ask Congress for better beauty laws.

2. Join the Movement! I already shared why I joined! The 25% discount off of all products is also a nice perk! If you want more info on how you can hop on this movement, I can always provide you with more!

3. Share your knowledge with your friends, family, peers, anyone you know! People deserve to know!

My Goals for Beautycounter!

1. To share what I’ve learned!

After learning these facts about our cosmetics industry, I can’t not share this. I want everyone to at least be aware of what they are using and the ingredients that make up their beauty products! Because I’m sure many people feel the same way I did. You don’t know, until you know.

2. To help others make the switch to safer skincare and more sustainable products.

I want to help other individuals make clean swaps for products that they are currently using by sharing advice for how to make the switch, what products should be swapped out first, what brands are safe, etc.

3. To act as a resource for you.

I want to be your clean beauty, skincare, healthy lifestyle, and personal development go-to person. I want to provide you with as much information and motivation I can to help you live a balanced and healthy lifestyle!
